OCP-Transmission

Launched more than ten years ago with its Paris Play-Conduct Academy, the OCP-Transmission program federates all the professional support actions for young artists developed by the Orchestre de chambre de Paris.

The OCP-Transmission program is structured around specialized master classes or with various professional accompaniment programs such as Paris Play-Conduct Academy, which trains young instrumentalists in the practice of play-conducted music, and an academy to encourage the emergence of young female composers.

The Orchestre de chambre de Paris is also involved in the professional integration of young musicians from the CRR, the CNSM of Paris, or the Pôle supérieur d’enseignement artistique de Paris Boulogne-Billancourt, by associating them with concert productions and by welcoming them as interns within the orchestra.

Our actions

Paris Play-Conduct Academy

Developing the art of playing and conducting with an orchestra is a unique experience of artistic encounter. Direct contact with the musicians of the orchestra, working together on style, articulation, balances or learning the gesture. These are all elements that give the form of the concerto a real chamber spirit. The Orchestre de chambre de Paris has made playing and conducting one of the pillars of its work with such great artists as Thomas Zehetmair, Maxim Vengerov, Kolja Blacher, Heinrich Schiff, Lars Vogt, François-Frédéric Guy and Christian Tetzlaff.

Dedicated to violin and piano, the next edition of Paris Play-Conduct Academy takes place from September 4 to 8, 2023 at the Philharmonie de Paris. Work sessions with the quartet of soloists from the Orchestre de chambre de Paris will precede the orchestral session and master classes given by Catherine Larsen-Maguire (conducting), Antje Weithaas (violin) and Javier Perianes (piano).

Academy of Young Women Composers

After creating the Paris Play-Direct Academy, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris is pursuing its commitment to young musicians and launching an academy in 2021/2022 to encourage the emergence of young women composers.

Promoting parity in the world of classical music is a strong commitment of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris. Today, women are still in a very small minority of composers. To overcome this problem, the Orchestre de chambre de Paris has joined forces with Thomas Lacôte and Clara Olivares to set up an academy dedicated to young women musicians who do not yet dare to take the step of composing. This multi-year academy is an incubator for young women creators and an opportunity to learn about writing for orchestra.

The Academy of the Orchestre de chambre de Paris and the Conservatoire de Paris

The Academy was born from the desire of musicians to share their passion with young performers who wish to make music their profession.

In partnership with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMD), which is keen to prepare its string students for the profession of orchestral musician, trainees selected by audition by the orchestra’s conductors are welcomed each season to reinforce the orchestra’s musicians, on a few programs chosen by mutual agreement between the orchestra and the Conservatoire. Each time, the trainees are prepared in advance by the orchestra musicians.

Before the concerts

Within the framework of a partnership with the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, former students who have followed a mediation program are invited by the orchestra to introduce its chamber music concerts. They propose to the public to explore the works and composers of the program, and thus give them keys to listening.

Young composers

As of the 16/17 season, the orchestra is expanding its partnership with the Conservatoire de Paris by commissioning chamber music works from student composers, supervised by their teachers.
