Eckhard Rudolph
Double bass
Born in Hanover, Germany, Eckhard Rudolph began his musical training at the age of four. He enrolled at the Musikhochschule Cologne, in Wolfgang Güttler’s class, where he was awarded first prizes in analysis, counterpoint and music theory, as well as a unanimous first prize in double bass. He continued his studies at the Musikhochschule in Karlsruhe, graduating with a unanimous soloist diploma.
In 1997, he was appointed principal double bass of the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, and from 2012 to 2013 held the same position in the Orchestre Philharmonique du Luxembourg. A devoted chamber musician, he is regularly invited to perform at festivals in France and abroad. His discography includes a recording of Milhaud’s chamber music (MDG) and a performance of Schubert’s renowned ‘Trout’ Quintet (ZIG ZAG Territoires).
He currently serves as solo double bassist with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris. He is also an assistant professor at the CNSM in Paris.
