Etienne Cardoze
Cello
After studying at the Regional Conservatories of Saint-Maur and Boulogne-Billancourt, Etienne Cardoze was unanimously awarded first prizes in cello and chamber music.
A scholarship recipient from the Ministry of Culture, he honed his skills with János Starker at the Bloomington School of Music (Indiana). He was a member of the Orchestre Français des Jeunes under the baton of Emmanuel Krivine and then played in the Orchestre des Jeunes de l’Union Européenne under Claudio Abbado. For nearly ten years, he performed regularly with the Orchestre de l’Opéra National de Paris, collaborating with brilliant conductors such as James Conlon, Armin Jordan, and Myung-Whun Chung. Etienne Cardoze broadened his repertoire by studying baroque cello with Christophe Coin at the CNSMD in Paris. Since 1987, he has been teaching at the Conservatory in Bourg-la-Reine. He also performs with Salad, a group formed with fellow orchestra musicians, exploring a diverse repertoire including jazz, blues, pop, rap, and tango.
He has been a member of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris since 2000.
