Nathalie Gantiez

principal timpanist

Born into a family of musicians, Nathalie Gantiez began her musical training on the violin. Drawn early to percussion, she entered the Conservatoire de Créteil to study with Francis Brana, where she was awarded first prize and then a prize for excellence. She continued her training at the CNSMD in Paris, with Jacques Delécluse.

In 1995, Yutaka Sado selected her as solo timpanist of Les Concerts Lamoureux. She has since been regularly invited to perform with major French ensembles as a timpanist and percussionist. In 2005, she took part in the world premiere of Hans Werner Henze’s opera Les Bassarides at Théâtre du Châtelet.

She has been principal timpanist in the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris since 2001.
