Sylvain Hotellier

Violin

Originally from Briançon in the Hautes-Alpes, Sylvain Hotellier grew up in a family of musicians and began studying the violin at the age of five with his father, who continued to teach him until he was sixteen. He went on to study at the Regional Conservatory in Lyon with Natalie Geoffray, before being unanimously admitted to the CNSMD Paris in 2020, joining the class of Jean-Marc Philips-Varjabédian, the distinguished violinist of the Trio Wanderer. He graduated with the highest distinction in 2023 and earned a master’s degree with honours in 2025.

Driven by a keen interest in chamber music, he formed a duo with pianist Benjamin Ettouati. Their studies with instructors such as Louis Rodde and Haruko Ueda culminated in a bachelor’s degree with unanimous honours and the jury’s compliments from the Paris Conservatory.

A passionate orchestral music, he has performed with many ensembles, including on period instruments. He joined the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris in 2025 and currently plays a violin made by S. Sorsana in 1721.
