Emin Kurkchan wasborn on November 22, 2004. He hailsfrom a family with a long musical tradition and began his studies at an early age with his mother, the pianist Larisa Tedtoeva, and with Luis Tomas.
He is currently studying at the Escuela Superior Reina Sofíawith Professor Milana Cherniasvka. Despite hisyoung age, he has performed numerous concerts and participated in various festivals. He has received lessons from renowned pianists such as Eldar Nebolsin, Boris Berman, Vladimir Ochinnikov,and Luis Fernando Perez.
He has been a prize winner atnumerous competitions: First prize in 2015 at the Ex Aequo at the International School of Music Presjovemin Cordoba, first prizein 2016 at theVI National Competition for Young Performers “America Martinez”, and first prize at the III International Piano Competition City of Seville “Julio Garcia Casas” for young talents. He has furthermore been awarded first prize in the youth category at the”Rafael Orozco” XXXV Piano Competition City of Linares “Marisa Montiel”, first prize in the international competition at the Rotary Club of Marbella, and the first prize and special award for the interpretation of a work by Bach in the international competition “pequeños grandes pianistas” (Small Great Pianists) in Sigüenza in May 2017. In September of the same year, he participated in anInternational Music Masterclass in Vienna performing in the final concert, for which he was awarded a scholarship to study at the Amadeus Academy in the same city.
In October that year he performed as a soloist with the Chamber Orchestra of Murcia in the Villa De Molina theater, and later with the Capricho Español Orchestra, interpreting concert no. 19 KV 459 by Mozart. On May 11, 2017, he performed together with Maestro Manuel Hernandez-Silva and the Malaga Philharmonic performing Mozart’s concerto no °19. In June 2018 he was invited to participate as a soloist in the framework of the international festival of young talents in Armenia, where he performed with the orchestra of that country. In the summer of the same year, he participated in the international Sommerfestival Orpheus in Vienna, receiving lessons from Millena Molova(student of Emil Gilels) and later from Evgeny Kissin. In April 2019 he performed as a soloist with Beethoven’s concerto no.3 at the Victor Villegas auditorium in Murcia under the direction of maestro Manuel Hernández-Silva.
In September later that year he was selected by the Orchestra of the Castelar Theater, under the direction of Maestro Octavio J. Peidró, to perform Mozart’sconcert no. 20, and on October 3 (Germany’s reunification day) he played at the Berliner Dom (Berlin Cathedral) with the Neue Philharmonie Hamburg performing Beethoven’s 3rd piano concerto. In November he made his debut in Russia, playing Grieg’s piano concerto with the Vladi caucasus Philharmonic Orchestra (affiliated with the Mariinsky Orchestra). In February 2020 he could be heard playing Grieg’s concerto with the Orchestra of Cordoba (selected as the best pupil from the conservatory) under the direction of Tobias Gossman. In April 2021, e won the XL, first prize in the national competition Ciudad de Albacete and in October of that year he was furthermore awarded first prize in the Intercentros concerts organized by the magazine Melómano.
Emin Kurkchan has been awarded a scholarship by the International Music Academyof Liechtenstein.
