Yuriko Shimizu
Violin
Yuriko Shimizu, born in Tokyo, began studying the violin at the age of four with her mother.
In 2018, she graduated from the Music High School affiliated with the Faculty of Music at Tokyo University of the Arts, where her professors included Kenji Kobayashi, Masaoki Inoue, Asako Urushihara, and Chiyoko Noguchi. In 2019, she entered the CNSMD in Paris, studying with Philippe Graffin, José Alvarez, Ayako Tanaka, and Clémence de Forceville, and in 2023, she was unanimously awarded a degree in chamber music with honours. She has also been mentored by distinguished artists such as Philippe Bernold, Emmanuelle Bertrand, Jean-Frédéric Neuburger, Haruko Ueda, and David Waterman. A prize-winner in multiple competitions across Japan and Europe, she received the Special Prize at the Japan Players Competition in 2015, was a laureate of the Arthur Grumiaux International Competition, and won the Special Prize at the K Music Competition (Japan) in 2017. She became a member of the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris in 2024.
